The THOMAS BETTS NS1086 is a standard polycarbonate electrical enclosure rated for NEMA 1, 2, 3, 3S, 3SX, 3X, 4, and 4X environments. It measures 8 inches wide, 10 inches high, and 6 inches deep, providing a compact footprint for housing control components, terminal blocks, or small electrical assemblies. The polycarbonate construction is impact-resistant and suitable for both indoor and outdoor installations where moisture, dust, and corrosion resistance are required. Captive cover screws, hinges, and swing panels are included. The unit is cULus Listed (E88685) and UL Listed 50, meeting recognized standards for industrial and commercial electrical enclosures. Installation is handled by licensed electricians or qualified control-panel assemblers.
This enclosure is suited for residential, commercial, and light industrial applications where a compact, multi-rated enclosure is needed. Common uses include housing low-voltage control circuits, automation components, junction terminations, and instrumentation in locations exposed to hose-directed water, rain, dust, or corrosive-free outdoor conditions. The broad NEMA rating range makes it a versatile option across HVAC controls, pump panels, and general electrical distribution applications where a durable, non-metallic enclosure is preferred over steel alternatives.
Designed as an OEM-style and aftermarket replacement or new-installation enclosure for standard electrical control and junction applications requiring NEMA 4X-rated non-metallic housings.
Installation should be performed by a licensed electrician in accordance with the National Electrical Code (NEC) and applicable local codes. Disconnect and de-energize all circuits before opening or wiring the enclosure. Verify that all conduit entries and fittings maintain the enclosure NEMA rating after installation. Do not modify the enclosure body or cover in ways that compromise the environmental seal.
