The THOMAS BETTS LBY55-TB is a threaded iron conduit elbow designed for use with rigid metal conduit and intermediate metal conduit (IMC) systems. This non-insulated, angled connector provides a reliable directional change in conduit runs while maintaining the mechanical integrity required in demanding installations. Constructed from iron, it delivers the durability needed in industrial and commercial environments. Rated for hazardous location and water-resistant applications, this elbow is suitable for environments where both moisture exposure and the presence of ignitable vapors or dusts must be addressed. Licensed electricians and qualified conduit installers are the primary tradespeople who work with this fitting.
This elbow is used in rigid conduit and IMC installations across commercial, industrial, and hazardous location environments. Its 1-1/2 inch trade size accommodates common wire fill requirements in these settings. The water-resistant rating makes it appropriate for wet or damp location conduit runs, such as those found in manufacturing facilities, processing plants, utility areas, and outdoor electrical enclosures where code-compliant conduit systems are required.
Designed for use with 1-1/2 inch trade size rigid metal conduit and intermediate metal conduit (IMC) systems with threaded connections, in hazardous and water-resistant location installations.
Installation should be performed by a licensed electrician in accordance with the National Electrical Code (NEC) and all applicable local codes, particularly Article 344 for rigid metal conduit and Article 342 for IMC. De-energize all circuits before beginning conduit work. Verify hazardous location classification and ensure all fittings and conduit components used in the run carry matching area-of-application ratings. Apply listed thread sealant or conduit thread compound as required by the installation environment and local authority having jurisdiction.
