The THOMAS BETTS JAB58H is a single-nut rod clamp used to bond or ground electrical conductors to threaded ground rods in electrical grounding systems. Constructed from copper alloy, this clamp accepts wire sizes from 1/0 AWG down to 8 AWG solid, and is compatible with 5/8-inch diameter ground rods. The single-nut design allows for fast field installation with a single wrench. At 0.13 pounds, it is a compact, lightweight fitting suited for service entrance grounding, panel grounding, and supplemental electrode connections. Licensed electricians and grounding contractors are the typical installers of this fitting.
The JAB58H is used in residential and commercial electrical grounding applications where a copper alloy clamp is required for conductor-to-rod connections. It accommodates wire cross-sections from 8.30 to 53.40 square millimeters, covering the most common grounding conductor sizes encountered in service entrance and equipment grounding work. The single-nut configuration simplifies installation in confined spaces around ground rods driven at meter bases, panelboards, or equipment pads.
Designed as an OEM-style grounding clamp for use with 5/8-inch diameter ground rods and copper conductors ranging from 1/0 to 8 AWG solid in standard electrical grounding installations.
Installation should be performed by a licensed electrician in accordance with NEC Article 250 grounding and bonding requirements. De-energize all circuits before making grounding conductor connections. Use an appropriately sized wrench to tighten the single nut securely against the conductor and rod without over-driving. Direct-burial installations should follow local code requirements for depth and backfill.
