The THOMAS BETTS HS6-1LR is a red polyolefin heat shrink sleeve rated at a 3:1 shrink ratio, designed to protect wire terminations, splices, and cable bundles in electrical and low-voltage wiring applications. Starting at a 3/4 inch inside diameter and shrinking down to 0.22 inches ID, this sleeve provides a tight, conforming seal over conductors sized 6 AWG through 2 AWG. Activation begins at 248 degrees F, and the sleeve carries a maximum continuous operating temperature of 194 degrees F. The polyolefin construction delivers abrasion, acid, and corrosion resistance, making it a reliable choice for protecting connections in demanding environments. This sleeve is CSA Certified and UL Listed. Package quantity is 25 pieces per order.
This heat shrink sleeve is suited for residential and commercial electrical work, industrial wiring, and panel or junction box terminations. Electricians use it to insulate and protect wire joints, repair damaged insulation, and color-code circuits. The red color aids in circuit identification. At 8 inches in overall length, each sleeve provides sufficient coverage for standard splice and termination work on conductors in the 6 AWG to 2 AWG range. It is appropriate for both field service and shop fabrication environments where a durable, code-compliant insulation solution is needed.
Designed as a standard heat shrink sleeve for use with wire and cable conductors sized 6 AWG through 2 AWG, where a 3/4 inch pre-shrink inside diameter is required.
Installation is performed by licensed electricians or qualified technicians following applicable NEC guidelines. Power down all circuits and verify de-energization before applying heat shrink to any termination or splice. Use a calibrated heat gun set to an appropriate temperature to evenly shrink the sleeve from the center outward, avoiding open-flame torches that can scorch or unevenly activate the material. Inspect the finished sleeve for full adhesion and uniform shrinkage before restoring power.
