The THOMAS BETTS HS4-30 is a 3:1 ratio heat shrink tubing sleeve made from black polyolefin, designed to provide durable insulation and environmental protection on electrical conductors, splices, and terminations. Starting at 1.1 inches inner diameter before shrinking, it recovers down to 3/8 inches, conforming tightly to the underlying wire or connector. At 5 inches in overall length, it covers a practical service span for field splices and end terminations. The sleeve activates at 248 degrees F and holds a maximum operating temperature of 194 degrees F. Electricians and low-voltage technicians install this product wherever a clean, code-compliant insulation sleeve is needed on conductors ranging from AWG 1 through AWG 3/0.
The HS4-30 is suited for residential and commercial electrical work, including service entrance conductors, panel feeder terminations, motor lead connections, and utility splice protection. The 3:1 shrink ratio makes it a reliable choice when installers need tight recovery over irregular or stepped surfaces such as crimped lugs and butt splices. The black polyolefin construction provides resistance to abrasion, acid exposure, and corrosion, making it appropriate for conduit runs, wet locations, and industrial environments where conductors face mechanical or chemical stress. Each package contains 20 sleeves.
Designed as an OEM-style heat shrink sleeve for electrical conductors in the AWG 1 through AWG 3/0 range, compatible with standard crimped terminals, butt splices, and ring lugs commonly used in residential, commercial, and light industrial wiring applications.
Installation is performed by licensed electricians following applicable NEC requirements. Power down and lock out the circuit before applying any tubing to a conductor or termination. Apply heat evenly using a heat gun, working from the center outward toward the ends to prevent air pockets and ensure uniform recovery. Do not use an open flame to shrink the tubing, as uncontrolled heat can damage the sleeve or adjacent insulation.
