The THOMAS BETTS HS16-12L is a black polyolefin heat shrink sleeve designed to protect wire terminations, splices, and exposed conductors from abrasion, moisture, acid, and corrosion. At a 3:1 shrink ratio, this sleeve recovers from 0.35 inches inside diameter down to 0.101 inches, providing a tight mechanical and environmental seal over the covered conductor or connection. It activates at 248 degrees F and is rated for continuous use up to 194 degrees F. Licensed electricians and wire harness technicians use this sleeve on copper and aluminum conductors in panel wiring, automotive, marine, and industrial applications where long-term protection is required.
This heat shrink sleeve is suited for residential and commercial electrical work as well as light industrial wiring tasks. It accommodates wire sizes from 14 AWG up to 10 AWG, covering a range of branch circuit and control wiring applications. The 6-inch overall length provides enough coverage for most standard splice and termination protection needs. Each package contains 25 sleeves, making it practical for service stock or job-lot use.
Designed for use with 14 AWG to 10 AWG conductors. Suitable for wire terminations and splices where a 3:1 polyolefin heat shrink sleeve with a maximum recovered ID of 0.101 inches is required.
Installation is performed by licensed electricians or qualified wire technicians. De-energize and lock out the circuit before applying any heat shrink sleeve to a conductor or termination. Apply heat evenly using a heat gun, working from the center outward, to avoid bubbling or incomplete recovery. Do not use an open flame as the heat source, as uncontrolled heat can damage the sleeve or adjacent insulation.
