The THOMAS BETTS HS12-6L is a black polyolefin heat shrink sleeve designed to protect wire terminations, splices, and cable bundles in electrical and low-voltage wiring applications. Starting at 0.5 inches inside diameter before shrinking, the tubing contracts to 0.151 inches ID at its 3:1 shrink ratio, providing a tight, secure fit over a range of conductor sizes. At 6 inches overall length, it gives technicians adequate coverage for most termination and splice scenarios. The sleeve activates at 248 degrees F and carries a maximum continuous operating temperature of 194 degrees F. UL Listed and CSA Certified, it suits commercial and industrial wiring work performed by licensed electricians and low-voltage installers.
This heat shrink sleeve is suited for protecting conductors ranging from 8 AWG to 6 AWG in residential, commercial, and light industrial electrical installations. Common applications include insulating wire splices, covering exposed terminals, bundling small conductor groups, and providing environmental protection at connection points. The polyolefin construction resists abrasion, acid, and corrosion, making it a reliable choice in wet, chemical-exposed, or mechanically demanding environments such as panel wiring, conduit runs, and equipment termination points.

Installation is performed by licensed electricians or qualified low-voltage technicians. De-energize and lock out the circuit before applying heat shrink to any live conductor or termination. Apply heat evenly using a heat gun set to an appropriate temperature — do not use an open flame, as uncontrolled heat can damage the tubing or adjacent wiring. Ensure the conductor and sleeve are fully cooled before restoring power or completing the installation.
