The THOMAS BETTS H050CAP is a round-type conduit cap off designed to seal and terminate 1/2-inch trade size IMC and rigid metal conduit. Constructed from zinc, it provides a durable, corrosion-resistant closure at conduit ends that are not in active use. The cap off includes a thermoplastic insulating throat and a Nitrile (Buna-N) sealing ring, giving it NEMA 3R, 4, and 13 environmental ratings for protection against rain, splashing water, and airborne contaminants. It carries UL and CSA approvals. Electricians and conduit installers use this fitting to cap unused conduit stubs during rough-in, renovation, or phased construction work.
This cap off is suited for both residential and commercial electrical installations where IMC or rigid metal conduit is the raceway system. It is commonly used to seal conduit ends that are temporarily or permanently inactive, preventing moisture, debris, and pests from entering the raceway. The NEMA 3R/4/13 rating makes it appropriate for indoor and outdoor applications where environmental exposure is a concern. The 1-7/16-inch outer diameter fits standard 1/2-inch trade size conduit ends without additional adapters.
Designed for use on 1/2-inch trade size IMC and rigid metal conduit as stated by the manufacturer.
This fitting is installed by licensed electricians in accordance with the National Electrical Code (NEC). De-energize all circuits and verify the conduit system is not live before installing or removing any conduit fittings. Thread or press the cap off onto the conduit end as appropriate, ensuring the sealing ring seats fully for a weather-tight closure. Do not over-tighten in a way that deforms the sealing ring or damages the thermoplastic throat insert.
