The THOMAS BETTS GUAB36-TB is a round, iron electrical box designed for hazardous location wiring installations. Finished in zinc-plating for durability, it measures 3.5 inches in overall width and 2.31 inches in overall depth. The box includes two 1-inch knockouts and comes equipped with internal ground screws. It carries UL 514A, UL 886, and UL Listed ratings alongside CSA certification, making it suitable for Class I and Class II hazardous environments. Licensed electricians working in industrial, commercial, or heavy-duty service settings rely on this box where code-compliant enclosure ratings are mandatory.
This box is rated for Class I Divisions 1 and 2 Groups C and D, Class II Division 1 Groups E, F, and G, and Class III Divisions 1 and 2. NEMA ratings include NEMA 3, NEMA 4, NEMA 7CD, and NEMA 9EFG, covering wet, dust-ignitionproof, and explosive-atmosphere applications. Typical installation scenarios include petrochemical facilities, grain handling operations, paint spray areas, and other locations where ignitable vapors, dusts, or fibers may be present. Designed as an OEM-style round electrical box for use in hazardous location conduit systems where UL 886 and UL 514A compliant enclosures are required.
Installation must be performed by a licensed electrician in accordance with NEC Article 500 requirements for hazardous classified locations. Disconnect and lock out all power to the circuit before beginning any box installation or conduit termination work. Conduit fittings and seals used with this box must also be rated for the applicable Class and Division to maintain the integrity of the hazardous location installation. Verify all knockout plugs are properly seated or removed and that ground screws are torqued to the conduit system bonding requirements per the applicable code.
