The THOMAS BETTS EYS81-TB is a conduit sealing fitting designed for use with rigid and intermediate metal conduit (IMC) systems in hazardous locations. The fitting uses a threaded connection and is constructed from iron, providing the durability required in demanding industrial and commercial environments. Conduit sealing fittings of this type are used to prevent the passage of gases, vapors, and flames between conduit sections, a critical requirement where explosive or ignitable atmospheres may be present. Installation is performed by licensed electricians working under applicable electrical codes for hazardous-location wiring.
This fitting is rated for hazardous location applications where conduit sealing is required by code. It accommodates a 3 inch trade size conduit, making it suited for larger-diameter rigid or IMC runs in industrial plants, refineries, chemical facilities, grain handling operations, and similar environments. The non-insulated, threaded design integrates directly into standard rigid and IMC conduit systems without additional adapters in most configurations.
Designed as an OEM-style sealing fitting for 3 inch trade size rigid metal conduit (RMC) and intermediate metal conduit (IMC) systems in hazardous location installations.
Installation must be performed by a licensed electrician in accordance with NEC Article 501 requirements for hazardous location conduit sealing. De-energize all circuits and verify the absence of voltage before beginning conduit work. Sealing compound must be applied per code requirements after the fitting is installed and wired — do not leave the fitting unsealed. Follow the applicable NEC and local authority having jurisdiction (AHJ) requirements for fill and sealing procedures.
