The THOMAS BETTS EYS51-TB is a conduit sealing fitting designed for use in hazardous locations where gas-tight or vapor-tight sealing of conduit systems is required. Constructed from iron with a threaded connection, this fitting installs on 1-1/2 inch trade size rigid metal conduit (RMC) or intermediate metal conduit (IMC). It is a non-insulated fitting intended to prevent the passage of gases, vapors, or flames through conduit runs into enclosures or across hazardous area boundaries. Licensed electricians and industrial electrical contractors install this fitting as part of NEC-compliant hazardous location wiring systems.
This fitting is suited for industrial, commercial, and infrastructure applications where conduit runs pass through or terminate in Class I or Class II hazardous locations. Typical installation scenarios include petrochemical facilities, grain handling operations, wastewater treatment plants, paint spray booths, and other environments where flammable vapors or combustible dusts may be present. The threaded iron body is compatible with standard 1-1/2 inch threaded rigid and IMC conduit systems.
Designed as an OEM-style sealing fitting for 1-1/2 inch trade size rigid metal conduit (RMC) and intermediate metal conduit (IMC) in threaded hazardous location conduit systems.
Installation must be performed by a licensed electrician in accordance with NEC Article 501 and applicable local codes governing hazardous location wiring. De-energize all circuits and verify the absence of voltage before beginning conduit work. The fitting must be filled with an approved sealing compound after installation, with the compound applied before any conductors are pulled if required by the specific listing. Do not use this fitting as a pull point or junction without confirming it is listed for that purpose.
