The THOMAS BETTS EYS4-TB is a conduit sealing fitting designed for use in hazardous locations where preventing the passage of gases, vapors, or flames through the conduit system is required by code. Constructed from iron with a threaded connection, this fitting is rated for 1-1/4 inches trade size rigid and intermediate metal conduit (IMC). It is a non-insulated fitting intended for installation by licensed electricians working on industrial, commercial, or other installations where conduit seals are mandated by the National Electrical Code (NEC) for hazardous area classification.
This sealing fitting is suited for hazardous location conduit systems where explosive or ignitable atmospheres may be present. It applies to both rigid metal conduit and IMC runs requiring a listed sealing fitting at enclosure entries or at defined intervals per NEC Article 501 requirements. The threaded iron construction provides durable, secure connections appropriate for demanding industrial environments.
Designed as an OEM-style sealing fitting for 1-1/4 inches trade size rigid metal conduit and intermediate metal conduit (IMC) systems in hazardous locations.
Installation must be performed by a licensed electrician in accordance with NEC Article 501 and all applicable local codes governing hazardous location wiring methods. De-energize all circuits and verify the area is safe before beginning work. After mounting the fitting, fill the sealing chamber with an approved sealing compound per the manufacturer instructions before closing the system. Do not substitute non-listed sealing compounds or omit the compound fill in hazardous location installations.
