The THOMAS BETTS EYS21-TB is a threaded conduit sealing fitting designed for use in hazardous locations where conduit systems must be sealed against the passage of gases, vapors, or flames. Constructed from iron, this fitting accepts 3/4 inch trade size rigid metal conduit (RMC) and intermediate metal conduit (IMC) via a standard threaded connection. It is non-insulated and intended for installation by licensed electricians working on industrial, commercial, or petrochemical facilities where NEC Article 501 sealing requirements apply. The sealing compound is field-installed after the fitting is secured in line.
This fitting is used in Class I hazardous location wiring systems where conduit seals are required at enclosure entries, division boundaries, and other code-mandated sealing points. Typical applications include refineries, chemical processing plants, grain handling facilities, paint spray booths, and similar environments classified under NEC Class I, Division 1 or Division 2. It is suited for horizontal or vertical conduit runs where a sealing point is required by the authority having jurisdiction.
Designed as an OEM-style sealing fitting for 3/4 inch trade size rigid metal conduit (RMC) and intermediate metal conduit (IMC) systems in hazardous location installations.
Installation must be performed by a licensed electrician in accordance with NEC Article 501 and any applicable local codes governing hazardous location wiring. De-energize the entire circuit and verify lockout/tagout procedures are in place before beginning conduit work. The fitting must be filled with an approved sealing compound after all conductors are routed through and before the system is energized. Do not use this fitting as a pull point or junction — it is a sealing device only.
