The THOMAS BETTS E996F is a PVC conduit adapter designed for use with rigid conduit systems. It provides a glued, insulated connection point for transitioning or terminating rigid polyvinylchloride conduit runs. The adapter carries a 1-inch trade size rating and is constructed entirely of polyvinylchloride for corrosion resistance in non-hazardous environments. Electricians use this fitting during conduit rough-in or when adapting conduit terminations to enclosures, junction boxes, or other conduit bodies. Its insulated design helps protect conductors at the connection point and reduces the risk of abrasion on wire insulation at transitions.
This adapter is suited for residential and light commercial electrical installations where rigid PVC conduit is the specified raceway. Installation should be performed by a licensed electrician in accordance with NEC Article 352 governing rigid PVC conduit. De-energize all circuits before working on any conduit system. Clean and dry conduit ends before applying solvent cement to ensure a proper glued bond. Do not use this adapter in hazardous classified locations.
