The THOMAS BETTS D8-516 is a non-insulated circular ring terminal designed for crimp connections on 8 AWG copper conductors. It uses a tin-plated copper contact to provide a low-resistance, corrosion-resistant termination point where a wire meets a stud or lug. The 5/16-inch stud hole fits standard fastener sizes common in electrical panels, equipment enclosures, and motor termination blocks. At 1.32 inches long and 0.59 inches wide, this is a compact terminal suited for tight wiring compartments. Electricians and panel builders use this terminal when a clean, uninsulated crimp lug is required by the application or by panel layout.
This ring terminal is used in residential, commercial, and light industrial electrical work wherever 8 AWG wire must be landed on a stud-mounted lug or bus. Typical applications include panel boards, ground bus connections, motor leads, and equipment bonding points. The non-insulated construction makes it compatible with applications requiring a separate heat-shrink sleeve or where insulation is not permitted by the termination design. Each package contains 25 terminals.
Designed as an OEM-style crimp ring terminal for 8 AWG wire applications requiring a 5/16-inch stud hole. Suitable for use wherever UL 486A/486B listed terminals are specified.
Installation should be performed by a licensed electrician in accordance with NEC requirements and applicable local codes. De-energize the circuit and verify absence of voltage before terminating any conductor. Use a calibrated ratchet crimping tool appropriate for non-insulated terminals at 8 AWG to achieve a proper mechanical and electrical crimp. Do not substitute with an uncalibrated tool, as an improper crimp can result in high resistance or pull-out failure at the termination.
