The THOMAS BETTS D8-12 is a non-insulated circular ring terminal designed for crimp connections on 8 AWG copper conductors. The terminal features a copper contact with TiN (titanium nitride) plating, measuring 1.49 inches in overall length and 0.82 inches in ring width. It accepts a 1/2-inch stud and is suited for secure, high-conductivity terminations in electrical panels, control wiring, and equipment grounding applications. Electricians and panel technicians install this terminal where a clean, permanent mechanical and electrical connection is required without insulation bulk. The package contains 25 terminals per unit.
This ring terminal is used in residential, commercial, and light industrial electrical work where 8 AWG wire requires a reliable stud-mount termination. Typical applications include main bonding jumpers, grounding conductors, motor control panels, switchgear connections, and bus bar terminations. Its non-insulated design is appropriate where sleeving, heat shrink, or exposed termination points are part of the assembly. The 1/2-inch stud size accommodates standard lug bolt patterns found in load centers and distribution equipment.
Designed as an OEM-style crimp ring terminal for use with 8 AWG conductors and 1/2-inch stud hardware in standard electrical termination assemblies.
Licensed electricians typically install ring terminals per NEC requirements for wire terminations and grounding conductors. De-energize and lock out the circuit before terminating any conductor. Use a calibrated ratcheting crimp tool rated for the terminal barrel size to ensure a proper mechanical and electrical crimp. Do not re-crimp a terminal that has already been fully compressed, and do not use pliers or non-calibrated tools as a substitute for a proper crimper.
