The THOMAS BETTS CPO250-0-C is a thin-wall, heat-shrinkable tubing designed for electrical insulation, bundling, and protection of wire and cable terminations. Constructed from flame-retardant cross-linked polyolefin, it carries a 600-volt rating and a 2:1 shrink ratio, collapsing from a minimum expanded diameter of 0.25 inches down to a maximum recovered diameter of 0.125 inches. The tubing activates at a shrink temperature of 120 degrees C and is rated for continuous operation from -55 to 135 degrees C. Each spool provides 100 feet of black tubing, making it suitable for large wiring jobs or stock inventory in service vehicles and panel shops. Licensed electricians and MRO technicians are the primary installers.
This tubing is suited for use on cable sizes ranging from 16 to 10 AWG. Typical applications include insulating wire splices, protecting terminals, color-coding conductors, and providing strain relief at connector backshells. Its resistance to common fluids and solvents makes it appropriate for industrial, marine, and panel-wiring environments where exposure to oils, fuels, or cleaning agents is a concern. The 100-foot spool length supports both shop use and field service kits. The black color is standard for general-purpose electrical applications.
Designed for use with wire and cable in the 16 to 10 AWG range. Suitable as a direct replacement or equivalent for thin-wall polyolefin heat shrink tubing meeting MIL-DTL-23053/5 and AMS 3636/3637 specifications.
Installation is typically performed by licensed electricians or qualified MRO technicians. De-energize all circuits before applying heat shrink to any live or potentially live conductors. Use a heat gun set to the appropriate temperature range to achieve full recovery; open flame is not recommended, as uneven heat distribution can cause incomplete shrink or damage to the tubing. Follow NEC requirements for insulation ratings and conductor protection in the jurisdiction of the installation.
