The THOMAS BETTS ASL30-21 is a non-insulated, square ring terminal designed for compression connections on 6 AWG aluminum conductors. At 3 inches in overall length and 1-1/8 inches wide, this terminal provides a secure, permanent mechanical and electrical connection at the lug end of an aluminum wire. The aluminum contact is plated with TiN (titanium nitride) to reduce oxidation and galvanic corrosion concerns common in aluminum terminations. It meets AL9CU standards, meaning it is rated for use with both aluminum and copper conductors where that designation applies. UL Listed under UL 486B and UL File E9809, and CSA Certified. Licensed electricians and journeymen install this type of terminal during panel work, service entrance connections, and feeder terminations.
This terminal is suited for residential and light commercial electrical installations where 6 AWG aluminum conductors require a reliable ring-style lug. Typical applications include service entrance wiring, subpanel feeders, and equipment grounding connections where a 5/16-inch stud size is required. The square ring profile allows for secure bolt-down termination on bus bars, lugs, and equipment terminals. It is sold individually and is intended for single-use compression installation using the appropriate crimping tooling specified for aluminum compression lugs.

Installation must be performed by a qualified, licensed electrician in accordance with the NEC and applicable local codes. De-energize and lock out the circuit before terminating. Use a compression tool rated and sized for aluminum 6 AWG lugs — do not substitute with a ratchet tool spec'd only for copper. Aluminum conductors should be prepared with an antioxidant compound per local code and manufacturer practice before crimping.
