The THOMAS BETTS 8624 is a steel conduit coupling designed for joining rigid metal conduit (RMC) and intermediate metal conduit (IMC) runs at 2-inch trade size. It uses a set screw connection method, securing the conduit ends without threading or insulating bushings. The non-insulated steel construction and concrete-tight area-of-application rating make it suitable for installations where the fitting will be embedded in or in direct contact with concrete. Licensed electricians and electrical contractors install this coupling during rough-in conduit work on commercial and industrial jobsites.
This coupling fits 2-inch trade size rigid and IMC conduit systems. It is appropriate for use in concrete-tight applications, including conduit runs cast into concrete slabs, walls, or poured structures. The set screw design allows for fast, tool-accessible assembly in tight spaces where threading a standard threaded coupling may not be practical. It is suitable for both new construction and retrofit electrical conduit installations.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard-use coupling for 2-inch trade size rigid metal conduit and intermediate metal conduit (IMC) systems in concrete-tight electrical installations.
Installation should be performed by a licensed electrician in accordance with the National Electrical Code (NEC) and applicable local codes. De-energize all circuits in the conduit run before beginning work. Set screws should be tightened with the appropriate hex key or screwdriver to ensure a secure, concrete-tight fit. Do not use this coupling as a grounding continuity device unless the installation is verified to meet NEC bonding requirements for the conduit system.
