The THOMAS BETTS 845 is a malleable iron conduit nipple designed for rigid metal conduit and intermediate metal conduit (IMC) installations. It features threaded connections on both ends and is rated for non-hazardous area applications. At a 1-1/4 inch trade size, this nipple provides a reliable, durable transition or close-coupling point between conduit sections or between conduit and an enclosure. Malleable iron construction resists mechanical stress and corrosion in standard indoor and outdoor electrical installations. Electricians and conduit installers use this fitting where a short, rigid connector is required to maintain system integrity without flexible sections.
This conduit nipple is suited for use in residential, commercial, and light industrial electrical systems wherever rigid metal conduit or IMC is the raceway of choice. It is appropriate for non-hazardous locations and is commonly used to connect conduit runs to junction boxes, panels, enclosures, and equipment knockouts. The threaded connection type is compatible with standard NPT conduit threads used throughout rigid and IMC conduit systems. Non-insulated construction is standard for this fitting type.
Designed for use with 1-1/4 inch trade size rigid metal conduit and intermediate metal conduit (IMC) systems using standard threaded connections in non-hazardous locations.
Installation is performed by a licensed electrician in accordance with the National Electrical Code (NEC) and applicable local codes. De-energize and lock out the circuit or panel before working on any conduit system connected to live equipment. Apply listed thread lubricant or thread sealant as required and tighten to full thread engagement to ensure a secure, grounded mechanical connection. Do not over-tighten malleable iron fittings, as the material can crack under excessive torque.
