The THOMAS BETTS 8221 is a straight, compression-style conduit connector designed for use with rigid metal conduit (RMC) and intermediate metal conduit (IMC) in a 3/4 inch trade size. Constructed from malleable iron, this non-insulated connector provides a secure, vibration-resistant mechanical connection at panel knockouts and enclosure entries. It is rated for non-hazardous areas and is installed by licensed electricians performing commercial and industrial conduit rough-in work. The compression connection style eliminates the need for locknuts on the conduit body side, simplifying termination.
The 8221 is suited for standard rigid and IMC conduit installations in non-hazardous indoor and outdoor environments. Typical applications include panel terminations, junction box entries, and enclosure connections in commercial construction, industrial facilities, and infrastructure projects. The 3/4 inch trade size accommodates one of the most common conduit sizes used in branch circuit and feeder runs.
Designed as an OEM-style fitting for use with 3/4 inch trade size rigid metal conduit (RMC) and intermediate metal conduit (IMC) in non-hazardous area electrical installations.
Installation is performed by a licensed electrician in accordance with NEC Article 344 for rigid metal conduit and Article 342 for intermediate metal conduit. De-energize all circuits and lock out the panel before terminating conduit at any enclosure entry. Tighten the compression nut to a firm, wrench-tight connection — do not overtighten, as malleable iron fittings can crack under excessive torque. Verify the knockout size matches the 3/4 inch trade size before installation.
