The THOMAS BETTS 680-TB is a malleable iron threaded conduit coupling designed for use with rigid metal conduit and intermediate metal conduit (IMC). It provides a secure, non-insulated threaded connection between two conduit sections, maintaining the mechanical integrity and grounding continuity of the conduit system. Rated for concrete-tight applications, this coupling suits installations where the fitting may be embedded in or in direct contact with concrete. Licensed electricians and electrical contractors install this fitting as part of conduit systems in commercial, industrial, and heavy-duty residential projects.
This coupling is suited for 2-inch trade size rigid and IMC conduit runs in exposed or concealed installations, including those where concrete encasement is required. Its concrete-tight rating makes it appropriate for below-slab, in-wall concrete, or other poured applications where standard fittings are not rated. The malleable iron construction provides strength and durability in demanding environments.
Designed for use with 2-inch trade size rigid metal conduit and intermediate metal conduit (IMC) with standard threaded ends.
Installation should be performed by a licensed electrician in accordance with the National Electrical Code (NEC) and applicable local codes. De-energize all circuits in the conduit run before beginning work. Thread the coupling onto conduit ends by hand, then tighten with pipe wrenches to achieve a mechanically secure, concrete-tight joint. Do not overtighten to the point of cracking or distorting the fitting.
