The THOMAS BETTS 54942BE is a non-insulated square ring terminal designed for compression connections on copper conductors ranging from 3 to 2 AWG. The terminal measures 2.03 inches in length and 0.59 inches in width, with a copper contact body and a TiN (titanium nitride) contact plating that improves corrosion resistance and contact reliability. A 5/16-inch stud size accommodates common bus bar and equipment grounding configurations. Licensed electricians and electrical maintenance technicians install this terminal using a calibrated compression tool to achieve a secure, gas-tight termination on heavier-gauge wire runs.
This square ring terminal is suited for commercial and industrial electrical work where heavier conductors require a reliable mechanical termination point. Typical applications include panel wiring, equipment grounding, bus connections, and power distribution assemblies where 3 to 2 AWG wire terminates at a stud-mounted lug point. The non-insulated design is appropriate for installations where the connection point is housed inside a protected enclosure or where separate sleeving is applied per code.
Designed as an OEM-style compression ring terminal for use with 3 to 2 AWG copper conductors in residential, commercial, and industrial electrical panel and grounding applications.
Installation must be performed by a licensed electrician in accordance with applicable NEC requirements. De-energize and lock out the circuit before terminating any conductor. Use a calibrated compression crimping tool rated for the wire gauge and terminal type to achieve a proper crimp — never use pliers or an uncalibrated tool as a substitute. Inspect the completed termination for proper seating and secure stud torque per the equipment manufacturer's specifications.
