The THOMAS BETTS 54816 is a non-insulated, crimp-on butt splice terminal rated for 400 MCM wire. It joins two conductors end-to-end in a single, inline connection. The contact is made from copper with a tin (TiN) plating for corrosion resistance and reliable conductivity. At 3-3/4 inches overall length and 0.98 inches overall diameter, this splice is sized for heavy-gauge conductors found in industrial power distribution, service entrance work, and large commercial electrical systems. Electricians and electrical contractors use this terminal where a clean, high-ampacity inline splice is required without added insulation bulk.
This butt splice terminal is suited for heavy commercial and industrial wiring applications involving 400 MCM conductors. Typical installation scenarios include service entrance feeders, motor leads, bus connections, and large panel splices. The non-insulated design is common in applications where conductors are run inside conduit or where a separate insulation wrap or heat-shrink sleeve will be applied after crimping. Two wire entries accept conductors from each end of the splice.
