The THOMAS BETTS 54813 is a non-insulated, crimp-on butt splice terminal designed for joining two conductors in a single in-line connection. Rated for 250 MCM wire, the terminal measures 3.38 inches in overall length and 0.79 inches in overall diameter. The contact is manufactured from copper with a TiN (titanium nitride) plating for enhanced surface durability and reliable conductivity. Two wire entries allow one conductor to be inserted from each end, creating a secure, low-resistance splice. Electricians and wiremen working on commercial, industrial, or utility installations use this terminal when making heavy-gauge conductor splices in junction boxes, switchgear, or feeder runs.
The 54813 is suited for heavy-conductor applications where a non-insulated, in-line splice is required. Its 250 MCM wire compatibility makes it a practical choice for feeder circuits, service entrance work, and large motor branch circuits where high current-carrying capacity is critical. The non-insulated design allows the installer to apply heat shrink or tape sleeving as required by local code or job spec.
Designed as an OEM-style crimp splice terminal for use with 250 MCM conductors in heavy-gauge electrical installations.
Installation should be performed by a licensed electrician following applicable NEC requirements for conductor splicing and insulation. De-energize and lock out the circuit before making any splice connections. Use a calibrated ratchet or hydraulic crimping tool sized for 250 MCM terminals to achieve the manufacturer-specified crimp. After crimping, inspect the barrel for deformation and apply appropriate insulation sleeving if the installation environment requires it.
