The THOMAS BETTS 54174 is a non-insulated square ring terminal designed for compression-style wire terminations in electrical panel, control cabinet, and heavy-duty wiring applications. The terminal features a copper contact body with a titanium nitride (TiN) plating finish, which improves corrosion resistance and contact durability. It accommodates a 3/8-inch stud, measures 2.28 inches in overall length and 1.13 inches in ring width, and has a barrel thickness of 0.14 inches. Electricians and panel builders use this terminal to create secure, permanent mechanical and electrical connections at bus bars, lugs, and grounding points.
This square ring terminal is suited for residential, commercial, and light industrial electrical installations where a non-insulated, compression-crimped termination is required. It is commonly used at distribution panels, motor control centers, grounding assemblies, and equipment control wiring where a 3/8-inch stud termination is specified. The yellow color coding assists with conductor size identification during installation and inspection. It is sold and packaged as a single unit.
Designed as an OEM-style compression ring terminal for use with 3/8-inch stud electrical connections in panel, grounding, and control wiring applications where a non-insulated square ring terminal is specified.
Installation should be performed by a qualified electrician in accordance with applicable NEC requirements. De-energize and lock out the circuit before terminating or inspecting any connection. Use a calibrated compression crimping tool rated for the conductor size being terminated to ensure a proper mechanical and electrical connection. Do not use this terminal as a substitute for an insulated terminal in applications where exposed contact protection is required by code.
