The THOMAS BETTS 54138 is a non-insulated square ring terminal designed for crimp connections on 4 AWG copper conductors. It provides a secure, low-resistance termination point for electrical wiring in panel assemblies, control cabinets, and power distribution applications. The contact is copper with a TiN (titanium nitride) plating for improved durability and corrosion resistance. At 1.38 inches in overall length and 0.55 inches in ring width, this terminal fits a No. 10 stud and delivers a compact, reliable connection. Electricians and panel builders install this part when a permanent, stripped-wire crimp termination is required without added insulation bulk.
This square ring terminal is suited for use in residential, commercial, and light industrial electrical installations where 4 AWG wire must be terminated to a No. 10 stud fastener. Common applications include ground lug connections, bus bar terminations, and equipment bonding points in electrical panels and junction boxes. The non-insulated design is appropriate where insulation is provided by the enclosure or where post-crimp inspection of the conductor is required.
Designed for crimp termination of 4 AWG wire to No. 10 stud fasteners in standard electrical panel and control cabinet applications.
Installation should be performed by a licensed electrician in accordance with NEC requirements. De-energize the circuit and verify zero voltage before crimping or securing the terminal. Use a properly calibrated ratchet crimp tool rated for the conductor gauge and terminal type to ensure a gas-tight connection. Do not solder over a crimped non-insulated terminal unless the terminal is rated for that process.
