The THOMAS BETTS 54135 is a non-insulated square ring terminal designed for compression connections on 6 AWG copper conductors. It provides a secure, low-resistance termination point at a stud or lug, making it a standard choice for panel wiring, equipment grounding, and power distribution work. The contact is copper with a TiN (titanium nitride) plating for corrosion resistance and reliable conductivity. At 1.41 inches in length and 0.60 inches in ring width, it fits a 5/16-inch stud. Licensed electricians and experienced electrical tradespeople install this terminal in commercial and industrial applications where a clean, permanent crimp termination is required.
This terminal is suited for residential, commercial, and light industrial electrical work where 6 AWG wire is terminated to buss bars, ground lugs, motor terminals, or panel studs. The square ring geometry provides additional contact surface area compared to a standard round ring, improving retention and reducing the chance of rotation on the stud. It is commonly used in switchgear, control panels, and service entrance equipment where non-insulated terminations are acceptable under the wiring method used.
Designed as an OEM-style compression ring terminal for use with 6 AWG conductors on 5/16-inch mounting studs in non-insulated termination applications.
Installation should be performed by a licensed electrician in accordance with the NEC and any applicable local codes. De-energize and lock out the circuit before terminating the conductor. Use a calibrated compression crimping tool rated for 6 AWG non-insulated terminals to achieve a proper crimp — do not substitute with pliers or an uncalibrated tool. Torque the stud fastener to the equipment manufacturer's specified value after seating the terminal.
