The THOMAS BETTS 54131 is a non-insulated square ring terminal designed for compression-style wire terminations in electrical installations. It accepts 8 AWG conductors and features a copper contact body with a titanium nitride (TiN) plating for improved conductivity and corrosion resistance at the connection point. The terminal measures 1.33 inches in overall length and 0.56 inches in ring width, with a 5/16-inch stud hole size. At 0.050 inches thick, this is a solid, low-profile lug suitable for panel wiring, grounding applications, and equipment connections. Electricians and maintenance technicians use this terminal where a bare, uninsulated ring lug is specified.
This terminal is suited for residential, commercial, and light industrial electrical work where 8 AWG wire must be landed on a 5/16-inch stud or bolt. Common applications include control panel terminations, grounding conductor connections, motor leads, and junction box wiring. The square ring geometry provides a secure mechanical lock around the stud and resists pull-out under vibration. The non-insulated design is appropriate where insulation sleeving is applied separately or where code or panel design calls for an uninsulated lug at the termination point.
Designed for use with 8 AWG conductors and 5/16-inch mounting studs. Suitable as an OEM-style compression ring terminal in electrical panel, grounding, and equipment termination applications requiring a non-insulated square ring lug.
Installation should be performed by a qualified electrician in accordance with the NEC and applicable local codes. De-energize the circuit and verify zero voltage before terminating any conductors. Use a calibrated compression crimping tool sized for 8 AWG to achieve a proper gas-tight crimp — do not use pliers or non-ratcheting tools as a substitute. Torque the stud fastener to the equipment manufacturer's specification after seating the terminal.
