The THOMAS BETTS 54118 is a non-insulated square ring terminal designed for compression-style wire termination in industrial and commercial electrical applications. Built with a copper contact body and a titanium nitride (TiN) contact plating, this terminal provides a reliable, low-resistance connection under load. The barrel accepts wire via compression fitting, creating a secure mechanical and electrical bond without solder. At 3.3 inches in overall length and 1.61 inches in ring width, it is sized for heavy-duty conductors terminating at a 1/2 inch stud. Licensed electricians and electrical contractors are the primary installers of this type of terminal in panel, switchgear, and large-conductor applications.
This square ring terminal is suited for use in power distribution panels, motor control centers, switchgear, and similar commercial or industrial electrical systems where large conductors require a solid mechanical termination at a 1/2 inch stud. The non-insulated design allows for use where the installation environment provides its own conductor protection or where insulation is not required by code. It is supplied as a single unit and is RoHS compliant, making it appropriate for projects with environmental material restrictions.
Designed as an OEM-style compression ring terminal for heavy-duty electrical termination applications requiring a 1/2 inch stud size and a non-insulated square ring configuration.
Installation should be performed by a licensed electrician following applicable NEC requirements. De-energize and lock out the circuit before terminating or removing any ring terminal. Use the correct compression tooling specified for the conductor gauge and terminal series to achieve proper crimp depth. Do not over-compress or re-crimp a previously installed terminal.
