The THOMAS BETTS 3118 is a straight, insulated conduit connector designed for use with flexible metal conduit (FMC). Constructed from malleable iron, it provides a durable, code-compliant termination point where FMC meets an enclosure or junction box. The set screw connection method delivers a secure mechanical grip without requiring specialized crimping tools. Rated for non-hazardous area applications, this connector is a standard fitting in commercial and residential electrical installations. Licensed electricians and electrical contractors install this type of fitting during conduit rough-in and equipment connection work.
This connector is suited for 1-1/4 inch trade size FMC in non-hazardous electrical installations. Typical applications include connecting flexible metal conduit to panelboards, motor termination boxes, junction boxes, and electrical enclosures in residential, commercial, and light industrial settings. The insulated throat protects wire insulation at the conduit entry point, reducing abrasion risk on conductors passing through the fitting.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard-use fitting for 1-1/4 inch trade size flexible metal conduit (FMC) terminations in non-hazardous electrical installations.
Installation should be performed by a licensed electrician in accordance with the National Electrical Code (NEC). De-energize the circuit and verify zero voltage with a meter before beginning work at any enclosure or panel. Insert the FMC into the connector body and tighten the set screw firmly to secure the conduit before pulling conductors. Do not overtighten the set screw to the point of deforming the conduit.
