The THOMAS BETTS 3117 is a straight, set screw conduit connector designed for use with flexible metal conduit (FMC). Constructed from malleable iron, it provides a durable, insulated termination point where FMC transitions to a junction box, panel enclosure, or other electrical enclosure knockout. The insulated throat protects conductors from abrasion at the point of entry. This connector is rated for non-hazardous locations and suits standard trade installation work in commercial and residential electrical systems. Electricians and electrical contractors are the primary installers for this fitting type.
This connector is used wherever 1 inch trade size FMC must be terminated at an electrical enclosure in a non-hazardous location. Typical applications include motor connections, appliance wiring, and branch circuit drops where flexible conduit is required to accommodate vibration or movement. The straight configuration suits direct, perpendicular entry into a knockout. It is appropriate for both new construction and retrofit installations in residential, light commercial, and industrial non-hazardous environments.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for 1 inch trade size flexible metal conduit (FMC) terminations in non-hazardous locations.
Installation should be performed by a licensed electrician in accordance with the National Electrical Code (NEC). De-energize and lock out the circuit or panel before beginning work. Insert the FMC into the connector body and tighten the set screw firmly with an appropriate screwdriver or hex key to secure the conduit. Verify that the insulated throat is properly seated before pulling conductors through to prevent insulation damage.
