The THOMAS BETTS 2930AL is a liquidtight straight strain relief cord grip designed to secure and protect flexible cables and cords where they enter conduit fittings, enclosures, or junction boxes. Constructed from aluminum, this fitting accepts cable diameters ranging from 0.125 to 0.375 inches and features a 3/4 inch thread for standard conduit entry connections. The overall length is 1-25/32 inches. Electricians and industrial maintenance technicians install this type of cord grip to prevent cable pull-out, reduce mechanical stress at the entry point, and maintain a liquidtight seal in wet or damp locations.
This cord grip is suited for use in residential, commercial, and light industrial electrical installations where liquidtight conduit fittings are required. Typical applications include motor wiring terminations, control panel cable entries, HVAC equipment wiring connections, and any installation where cables must be secured against vibration or accidental pull. The straight body profile fits flush entry points, and the aluminum construction resists corrosion in moderately harsh environments.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for standard 3/4 inch liquidtight conduit entry applications where cable diameters between 0.125 and 0.375 inches must be secured and sealed.
Installation should be performed by a licensed electrician in accordance with applicable NEC requirements for liquidtight fittings and cord anchorage. De-energize and lock out the circuit before making any wiring connections at the enclosure or panel. Hand-tighten the fitting to seat the thread, then snug with an appropriate wrench — do not over-torque aluminum fittings. Verify the liquidtight seal is fully engaged around the cable jacket before restoring power.
