The THOMAS BETTS 2542 is a liquidtight straight strain relief cord grip designed to secure and protect electrical cables where they enter conduit fittings or enclosures. Constructed from zinc, it provides durable corrosion resistance in wet and damp location installations. The 1-inch NPT thread connects to standard conduit hubs, and the straight profile keeps cable routing clean and direct. It accepts cables ranging from 0.375 to 0.5 inches in diameter, making it a reliable choice for maintaining liquidtight integrity at cable entry points. Licensed electricians and industrial maintenance technicians install this fitting as part of compliant wiring enclosure assemblies.
This cord grip is suited for use in residential, commercial, and light industrial electrical installations where liquidtight cable terminations are required. It is commonly installed at junction boxes, control panels, motors, and other enclosures that require a sealed, strain-relieved cable entry. The straight configuration is appropriate when cables enter enclosures at a perpendicular angle. With an overall length of 1-23/32 inches, it fits in applications with limited clearance at the enclosure knockout.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for standard 1-inch NPT conduit hubs and enclosure entries requiring liquidtight straight strain relief cord grips with a cable range of 0.375 to 0.5 inches.
Installation is performed by a licensed electrician in accordance with NEC requirements for liquidtight fittings in wet or damp locations. De-energize all circuits in the enclosure before beginning work. Thread the cord grip into the enclosure hub by hand first, then tighten with the appropriate wrench to achieve a secure, liquidtight seal without overtightening the zinc body. Route the cable through the grip before making final electrical terminations inside the enclosure.
