The THOMAS BETTS 228-TB is a plastic insulated conduit bushing designed to protect wire insulation at the end of rigid metal conduit and intermediate metal conduit (IMC) terminations. The threaded connection seats directly onto the conduit end, creating a smooth transition that guards conductors against abrasion caused by sharp conduit edges. Rated for non-hazardous locations, this bushing fits a 2-1/2 inch trade size conduit. It is installed by licensed electricians during raceway terminations at panels, junction boxes, and enclosures wherever rigid or IMC conduit is used.
This bushing is suited for commercial and industrial electrical installations where rigid conduit or IMC terminates at an enclosure, panelboard, or pull box. The insulated plastic construction provides an added layer of protection for conductors passing through the conduit end. Non-hazardous area rating makes it appropriate for standard interior and exterior electrical raceway systems that do not require explosion-proof or hazardous location fittings.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard-fit bushing for 2-1/2 inch trade size rigid metal conduit and intermediate metal conduit (IMC) with threaded terminations in non-hazardous locations.
Installation is performed by a licensed electrician. De-energize the circuit and verify the absence of voltage before working at any panel, enclosure, or junction box where this bushing will be installed. Thread the bushing onto the conduit end by hand until fully seated, then tighten as needed to secure it flush against the enclosure knockout. Follow all applicable National Electrical Code (NEC) requirements for conduit termination and conductor protection.
