The THOMAS BETTS 2253-TB is an elbow-style liquidtight strain relief cord grip designed to secure and protect flexible conduit and cable at points of entry into enclosures, junction boxes, and electrical equipment. Built from iron with a 3/4 NPT threaded connection, it accepts cables from 0.75 to 0.88 inches in diameter. The 90-degree elbow profile allows cable routing in tight spaces where a straight fitting would not clear surrounding hardware. Electricians and panel shop technicians install this fitting when routing liquidtight flexible conduit into enclosures that require a sealed, strain-relieved connection at an angled entry point.
This cord grip is suited for commercial and industrial electrical installations where liquidtight flexible metal or nonmetallic conduit terminates at enclosures, control panels, motors, or equipment knockouts. The iron construction makes it appropriate for applications requiring a more robust fitting than standard plastic or zinc versions. It is commonly used in manufacturing, mechanical rooms, and outdoor service equipment where moisture resistance and cable retention are priorities.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard-fit cord grip for liquidtight flexible conduit systems using 3/4 NPT threaded knockouts in electrical enclosures, control panels, and similar equipment.
Installation should be performed by a licensed electrician in accordance with applicable NEC requirements for liquidtight flexible conduit terminations. De-energize all circuits and lock out power before installing or replacing fittings at any enclosure. Hand-tighten the NPT threads first to confirm engagement, then use an appropriate wrench to achieve a secure, leak-resistant seal without over-torquing the iron fitting. Verify that the cable diameter falls within the 0.75 to 0.88 inch capacity range before completing the installation.
