The THOMAS BETTS 18RA-4 is a partially insulated, D-shaped ring terminal designed for crimp connections on copper conductors ranging from 22 to 16 AWG. The contact is made from copper with a TiN (tin) plating for corrosion resistance and reliable conductivity. The vinyl insulation sleeve is rated UL 94 V-0 for flame resistance. At 0.97 inches in overall length and 0.31 inches in ring width, this terminal fits a number 4 stud. It is sold in a package quantity of 100. Electricians and control panel technicians install this terminal where a secure, compact ring connection is required in low-voltage wiring and control circuit applications.
The 18RA-4 is suited for residential and light commercial electrical work, control wiring, panel terminations, and equipment grounding or signal connections where 22 to 16 AWG wire is used. The partially insulated design provides finger protection at the barrel entry while keeping the ring barrel exposed for visual inspection of crimp integrity. This terminal is commonly used in HVAC control boards, motor starters, junction boxes, and similar equipment where small-gauge wire must terminate at a screw or stud fastener.
Designed for crimp termination of 22 to 16 AWG copper conductors at number 4 stud or screw fasteners in low-voltage and control wiring applications.
Installation should be performed by a qualified electrician in accordance with NEC guidelines. De-energize and lock out the circuit before terminating or disturbing any wiring. Use a calibrated ratcheting crimp tool sized for the 22 to 16 AWG range to achieve a proper crimp; a loose or over-crimped connection can cause resistance buildup or conductor pullout. Do not solder over a crimped terminal unless the terminal is specifically rated for that process.
