The THOMAS BETTS 17274-BD is a butt splice terminal designed for splicing and terminating 1 AWG wire conductors. Color-coded green for quick identification during installation, this connector creates a reliable in-line electrical splice without the need for soldering. It is used in residential and commercial electrical wiring applications where two conductor ends must be joined securely within a wire run. Electricians and electrical contractors install this type of terminal using a proper ratchet-style crimping tool sized for the conductor gauge.
This butt splice terminal is suited for 1 AWG conductor applications including service entrance wiring, panel feeders, grounding conductors, and other heavy-gauge wire terminations. The green color coding is commonly associated with grounding applications, making it a practical choice for ground conductor splices in both residential and light commercial electrical systems.
Designed as an OEM-style butt splice terminal for use with 1 AWG wire conductors in standard electrical wiring installations.
Installation should be performed by a licensed electrician in accordance with applicable NEC requirements. De-energize and lock out the circuit before splicing any conductors. Use a ratchet crimping tool rated for the terminal size and wire gauge to ensure a proper mechanical and electrical connection. Do not use pliers or non-rated tools in place of a proper crimping tool, as an improper crimp can result in high-resistance connections or conductor pullout.
