The THOMAS BETTS -17211-4-BD is a ring terminal designed for 6 AWG wire with a 1/4 inch stud size. Ring terminals provide a secure, low-resistance electrical connection between a conductor and a threaded fastener or stud. This type of terminal is crimped onto stripped wire and then bolted or screwed to a lug, bus bar, or terminal block. Electricians and maintenance technicians install these terminals in control panels, equipment grounding circuits, and power distribution connections where a reliable mechanical and electrical bond is required.
This ring terminal is suited for use in residential, commercial, and light industrial electrical work wherever 6 AWG conductors terminate at a threaded stud or binding post. Typical applications include grounding connections, motor terminations, panel wiring, and equipment bonding. The 1/4 inch stud size is a common fit for terminal blocks and grounding lugs found across a wide range of electrical enclosures and control assemblies.
Designed as an OEM-style ring terminal for use with 6 AWG conductors terminating at 1/4 inch threaded studs in standard electrical panels, grounding circuits, and equipment connections.
Installation is performed by licensed electricians or qualified maintenance personnel. Strip the wire to the appropriate length before inserting it fully into the terminal barrel, then crimp with a ratcheting or compression-style crimping tool rated for the terminal size. Ensure all circuits are de-energized and locked out per OSHA and NFPA 70E procedures before terminating conductors. Do not solder after crimping, as this can create a stress point and compromise the connection.
