The THOMAS BETTS 17066-BD is a copper ring terminal designed for heavy-duty electrical terminations in power distribution, industrial wiring, and commercial electrical systems. It accepts 3/0 AWG wire and fits a 1/2 inch stud, making it suitable for high-ampacity connections on bus bars, battery banks, lugs, and large-frame circuit breakers. The copper contact is finished with a titanium nitride (TiN) plating, which improves corrosion resistance and maintains a low-resistance connection over the service life of the termination. Licensed electricians and experienced electrical contractors are the primary installers of this terminal type.
This ring terminal is used in residential service entrance work, commercial electrical panels, industrial control cabinets, and utility-side connections where 3/0 AWG conductors are required. It is well suited for applications involving battery interconnects, grounding conductors, and main bonding jumper terminations. The 1/2 inch stud size accommodates standard hardware found on distribution lugs and switchgear mounting points.
Designed as an OEM-style ring terminal for use with 3/0 AWG copper conductors and 1/2 inch threaded stud connections in standard electrical termination applications.
Installation should be performed by a licensed electrician in accordance with applicable NEC requirements. De-energize and lock out the circuit before terminating or removing any ring terminal. Use a calibrated crimping tool rated for 3/0 AWG terminals to ensure a mechanically sound and electrically reliable crimp. Do not substitute a torch or solder joint for a proper mechanical crimp on this terminal type.
