The THOMAS BETTS 144SL is a steel conduit locknut designed for use with rigid metal conduit (RMC) and intermediate metal conduit (IMC) systems. It features a threaded connection and non-insulated construction, providing a secure mechanical attachment between conduit fittings and enclosure knockouts. This locknut is rated for watertight area-of-application use and carries a 1-1/4 inch trade size. It is a standard component installed by licensed electricians during conduit rough-in and termination work in both commercial and residential electrical systems.
This locknut is suited for terminating rigid or IMC conduit runs at junction boxes, pull boxes, panels, and enclosures. The 1-1/4 inch trade size fits standard knockouts of the same size. Its watertight area-of-application rating makes it appropriate for installations where moisture exposure is a consideration, such as wet or damp locations as defined by the NEC.
Designed for use with rigid metal conduit (RMC) and intermediate metal conduit (IMC) at a 1-1/4 inch trade size, with threaded connections at enclosures, boxes, and panels.
Installation is performed by a licensed electrician in accordance with applicable NEC requirements for conduit terminations. De-energize all circuits and verify power is off before working at any enclosure or panel. Thread the locknut onto the conduit fitting and tighten firmly against the enclosure wall using a locknut wrench or screwdriver-and-hammer method to ensure a solid mechanical and electrical bond. Inspect threads for damage before installation to ensure a proper watertight fit.
