The THOMAS BETTS 1283 is a hot dipped galvanized steel pipe and conduit strap designed to secure 3-inch pipe or conduit to a surface with a single mounting hole. Constructed from steel with a hot dipped galvanized finish, this strap provides corrosion resistance in demanding installation environments. The 1283 accepts a 1/2-inch bolt for anchoring and is suited for use in electrical, plumbing, and mechanical applications where a reliable, code-compatible pipe support is required. Licensed electricians, plumbers, and mechanical contractors install this type of strap as part of standard rough-in and support work.
This strap is used to support 3-inch pipe or conduit in residential, commercial, and light industrial installations. Typical applications include securing EMT, rigid metal conduit, or Schedule 40 pipe runs to framing, structural steel, concrete, or masonry substrates. The hot dipped galvanized finish makes it appropriate for damp and wet locations where bare steel would be prone to oxidation. It ships and is sold as an individual unit.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and cross-reference equivalent to Appleton part number CL-300M, Gedney part number 14-300G, and Raco part number 1312. Suitable for use with 3-inch pipe or conduit in standard pipe support applications.
Installation is typically performed by licensed electricians, plumbers, or pipefitters following applicable NEC, IPC, or IFGC support spacing requirements. De-energize circuits and isolate any pressurized lines before beginning work on existing pipe or conduit runs. Use appropriately rated fasteners for the substrate type — concrete anchors, wood screws, or machine bolts as the mounting surface requires. Do not overtighten the mounting bolt in a way that deforms the strap or compromises pipe integrity.
