The THOMAS BETTS 1281 is a hot dipped galvanized steel pipe and conduit strap designed to secure 2-inch pipe or conduit to structural surfaces. The hot dipped galvanization process provides corrosion resistance in wet, outdoor, and industrial environments. A single mounting hole accepts a 1/2-inch bolt for straightforward attachment to wood, concrete, or metal substrates. Electricians, plumbers, and mechanical contractors use this strap in both new construction and retrofit applications where a secure, corrosion-resistant pipe support is required.
This strap is suited for supporting 2-inch rigid conduit, EMT, galvanized pipe, or similarly sized round conduit in residential, commercial, and light industrial settings. It performs well in exposed locations such as utility rooms, mechanical spaces, and outdoor runs where moisture and environmental exposure demand durable hardware. The single-hole mounting design keeps installation fast and hardware requirements minimal.
Designed for use with 2-inch pipe or conduit. Cross-referenced with Appleton part number CL-200M, Gedney part number 14-200G, and Raco part number 1308.
Installation is typically performed by licensed electricians or plumbers following applicable NEC or IPC guidelines for pipe and conduit support spacing. Power down or depressurize the system before working on supported lines. Use fasteners rated for the substrate material, such as concrete anchors for masonry or appropriately rated screws for wood framing. Do not overtighten the mounting fastener to the point of deforming the strap.
