The THOMAS BETTS 1279-TB is a screw-on pipe and conduit strap designed to secure 1-1/4 inch rigid metal conduit (RMC) and intermediate metal conduit (IMC) to structural surfaces. Fabricated from steel with a hot-dipped galvanized finish, this single-hole mounting strap resists corrosion in wet and damp locations. The 3/8 inch bolt size ensures a secure mechanical connection to wood, concrete, or steel substrates. Electricians use this strap for conduit support in commercial, industrial, and residential electrical installations where code-compliant spacing and secure fastening are required.
This strap is suited for use with 1-1/4 inch rigid conduit and IMC in a wide range of electrical rough-in applications. Typical install scenarios include conduit runs along framing, concrete walls, and structural steel in both new construction and retrofit work. The hot-dipped galvanized finish makes it appropriate for outdoor, wet-location, and industrial environments where bare or painted steel would corrode prematurely.
Designed for use with 1-1/4 inch rigid metal conduit and intermediate metal conduit (IMC). Cross-references include Appleton part number CL-125M, Gedney part number 14-125G, and Raco part number 1305.
Installation is performed by licensed electricians in accordance with NEC conduit support spacing requirements. Power down all circuits in the affected conduit run before making any connections or adjustments. Use appropriate fasteners for the substrate material — concrete anchors for masonry, wood screws for framing, and machine bolts or self-drilling fasteners for structural steel. Do not overtighten the mounting hardware, as deforming the strap can reduce its grip on the conduit.
