The THHNCU-GENERIC thhn8stryelmr is a THHN-rated, 8 AWG stranded copper conductor wire with yellow PVC insulation and a nylon jacket. It is designed for use in conduit runs and raceway installations where a 600-volt, 90 degrees C dry-rated conductor is required. The 19-strand configuration provides flexibility during pull-in, reducing kinking in tight conduit bends. Current capacity is 40 amps at 60 degrees C, 50 amps at 75 degrees C, and 55 amps at 90 degrees C. This wire is sold cut to length, making it practical for commercial and residential electrical projects of varying scale. Licensed electricians and electrical contractors are the primary installers of this product.
This conductor is suited for branch circuit wiring, feeder runs, and general-purpose electrical distribution in residential and commercial applications. It is pulled through EMT, rigid metal conduit, PVC conduit, and other enclosed raceways. The yellow insulation color supports phase identification and color-coded wiring practices in multi-conductor installations. At 63 pounds per thousand feet, it is manageable for standard spool and pull-box setups on job sites requiring longer conduit runs.
Designed for use in conduit or enclosed raceway systems where THHN or THWN-2 rated 8 AWG copper conductors are specified per NEC requirements for branch circuit and feeder wiring.
Installation must be performed by a licensed electrician in accordance with the National Electrical Code (NEC) and applicable local codes. De-energize all circuits and verify zero voltage with a meter before making any terminations or splices. Use appropriate conduit fill calculations per NEC Chapter 9 to confirm raceway sizing before pulling wire. Avoid exceeding the minimum bend radius of the conduit to prevent insulation damage during the pull.
