The THHNCU-GENERIC thhn8strorg1000r is a THHN-rated, 8 AWG stranded copper building wire supplied on a 1000-foot reel with orange PVC insulation and a nylon jacket. It carries a 600-volt rating and a 90 degrees F dry/wet temperature rating, making it suitable for branch circuits, feeders, and general-purpose wiring in conduit. The 19-strand copper conductor provides flexibility for pulls through rigid, IMC, or EMT conduit. Current capacity is 40 amps at 60 degrees C, 50 amps at 75 degrees C, and 55 amps at 90 degrees C. Licensed electricians and electrical contractors are the primary installers of this conductor type.
This wire is used in residential, commercial, and light industrial electrical installations where THHN conductors are required in conduit or cable tray. The orange insulation color aids in circuit identification and phase coding on job sites. At 66 pounds per 1000 feet, the reel format supports efficient pulls on larger projects. Typical applications include panel feeds, sub-panel circuits, motor branch circuits, and conduit wiring runs requiring a 600-volt rated conductor at 8 AWG.
Designed for use in conduit, raceways, and cable trays as an OEM-style THHN building wire replacement or new-installation conductor suitable for 600-volt-rated branch circuit and feeder wiring applications.
Installation must be performed by a licensed electrician in accordance with the National Electrical Code (NEC) and applicable local codes. De-energize and lock out the circuit before making any terminations or splices. THHN conductors in this gauge require appropriately rated connectors, terminals, and conduit fill calculations per NEC Chapter 9. Do not exceed the conductor's rated ampacity or temperature limits at termination points.
