The THHNCU-GENERIC thhn6stryel1000r is a 6 AWG stranded copper THHN building wire rated for use in commercial and residential electrical installations. The conductor is made from copper with a 19-strand configuration, covered by PVC insulation and a nylon jacket in yellow. It carries a 600-volt rating and a 90 degrees C dry temperature rating, making it suitable for conduit runs in a wide range of branch-circuit and feeder applications. The reel contains 1000 feet of continuous wire, reducing the need for mid-run splices on longer pulls. Licensed electricians and electrical contractors are the primary installers of this wire type.
This wire is used in conduit in dry locations for branch circuits, feeders, and service entrance applications in residential, commercial, and light industrial settings. The yellow insulation color assists with circuit identification during installation and future service work. At 6 AWG with a 75 amp rating at 75 degrees C, it is commonly used for sub-panel feeds, large appliance circuits, and HVAC equipment branch circuits where the load and code requirements call for this conductor size.
Designed for use in conduit as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation conductor in dry-location branch-circuit and feeder wiring applications per NEC requirements for THHN-rated building wire.
Installation must be performed by a licensed electrician in accordance with the National Electrical Code (NEC) and all applicable local codes. De-energize and lock out the circuit or panel before terminating conductors. THHN wire must be installed inside an approved conduit or raceway — it is not rated for direct burial or wet locations without an additional rated jacket. Use a wire-pulling lubricant rated for PVC insulation when pulling through long or complex conduit runs to avoid insulation damage.
