The THHNCU-GENERIC thhn6strredmr is a 6 AWG stranded copper THHN building wire with red PVC insulation and a nylon jacket, rated for 600 volts and up to 90 degrees F in both dry and wet locations. The 19-strand configuration provides flexibility during pull-in, reducing the risk of conductor damage in conduit runs. Ampacity is 55 amps at 60 degrees C, 65 amps at 75 degrees C, and 75 amps at 90 degrees C, making it suitable for branch circuits, feeder runs, and service entrance applications where a color-coded red conductor is required. Licensed electricians install this wire in commercial and residential conduit systems.
This wire is well suited for use in EMT, rigid metal conduit, intermediate metal conduit, and PVC conduit systems. Common applications include panel feeders, subpanel branch circuits, motor circuits, and any installation where NEC color-coding conventions call for a red current-carrying conductor. The cut-to-length format minimizes waste on jobs where a full reel quantity is not needed. It is appropriate for both new construction and retrofit electrical work across residential, light commercial, and industrial settings.
Designed as a standard THHN-rated building wire for use in conduit systems per NEC Article 310 requirements for 600-volt-rated conductors in commercial and residential electrical installations.
Installation must be performed by a qualified, licensed electrician in accordance with the National Electrical Code (NEC) and all applicable local codes. De-energize and lock out the circuit or panel before making any connections. Wire must be pulled through an approved conduit system and is not rated for direct burial or open-air exposure without conduit protection. Verify that connector lugs and terminations are rated for use with stranded copper conductors before landing the wire.
