The THHNCU-GENERIC thhn4strgrymr is a 4 AWG stranded copper THHN building wire available cut to length for trade and job-site use. The conductor is made up of 19 strands of copper, providing flexibility during pull-through conduit runs while maintaining the structural integrity needed for branch-circuit wiring. Rated at 600 volts with a 90 degrees C dry temperature rating, this wire carries 70 amps at 60 degrees C, 85 amps at 75 degrees C, and 100 amps at 90 degrees C. The gray PVC thermoplastic insulation is jacketed in nylon, which reduces friction during conduit installation and adds resistance to oil and gasoline exposure common in commercial and industrial environments.
This wire is suitable for use in conduit, raceways, and cable trays in residential, commercial, and industrial applications. Electricians use 4 AWG THHN for feeder circuits, panel feeds, sub-panel runs, and large branch circuits where ampacity demands exceed the capacity of smaller gauges. The gray insulation color aids in phase and circuit identification during installation and future service work. Cut-to-length availability reduces material waste on jobs where exact footage is required.
Designed for use in conduit, raceways, and approved cable trays per NEC Article 310 guidelines for THHN-rated conductors in dry locations up to 600 volts.
Installation should be performed by a licensed electrician in accordance with the National Electrical Code (NEC) and all applicable local codes. De-energize and lock out the circuit or panel before making any terminations. Use appropriately rated lugs, connectors, and conduit fittings rated for copper conductors. Do not exceed the ampacity limits for the installed ambient temperature and conduit fill conditions as outlined in NEC Table 310.15.
