The THHNCU-GENERIC thhn12strwht/red500r is a 12 AWG stranded copper conductor THHN wire supplied on a 500-foot spool with a white jacket and red stripe. THHN (Thermoplastic High Heat-resistant Nylon-coated) insulation is a standard building wire type rated for dry and damp locations in conduit. The 12 AWG stranded configuration provides flexibility during pull-through in conduit runs compared to solid wire of the same gauge. The white with red stripe color coding supports circuit identification and phasing conventions in panel and branch circuit wiring. Licensed electricians and electrical contractors are the primary installers of this wire type in residential and commercial applications.
This wire is suited for general-purpose branch circuit wiring in conduit systems throughout residential, commercial, and light industrial installations. The 500-foot spool format is practical for larger wiring projects, panel feeds, and multi-circuit rough-in work where significant wire length is required. The stranded construction is commonly selected for runs that require repeated bending or where flexibility at termination points is advantageous.
Designed as a standard THHN building wire replacement or new-installation conductor for use in conduit systems meeting NEC requirements for 12 AWG branch circuit applications.
Installation must be performed by a licensed electrician in accordance with the National Electrical Code (NEC) and applicable local codes. De-energize and lock out the circuit at the panel before pulling, terminating, or splicing any conductors. THHN wire must be installed in a listed conduit or raceway system and is not approved for direct burial or exposed outdoor use without additional protection. Verify conductor ampacity, conduit fill calculations, and termination torque requirements per NEC Article 310 and equipment listing before completing the installation.
